⑴ Having obtained a human body, one should rejoice. 

⑵ Having been saved (or delivered), one should rejoice even more. 

⑶ In one’s true nature, there is nothing that is not joy. 

⑷ Every cell in my body depends on me to be joyful. 

⑸ Others look to me with the hope that I will be joyful. 

For these five reasons, one should greatly rejoice. Therefore, whether walking, standing, sitting, or lying down, at all times, in all places, and in every circumstance, there should be nothing but joy. 

⑴得人身應歡喜， 

⑵被救度更應歡喜， 

⑶自性無有不歡喜， 

⑷細胞須我以歡喜， 

⑸別人望我以歡喜。 

以此五故，當大歡喜。因此，行住坐臥，時處諸緣，無不歡喜。

The youthful playmates who chase dreams with wild passion, have scattered to different places. 

The close friends of our young adulthood, who once talked freely about everything under the sun, have gone their separate ways. 

The first love with whom we once pledged eternal devotion has moved on—he has married, she has wed. 

Even those friends bound by deep loyalty, willing to share life and death together, often leave this world before us. 

Good friends, best friends, forever the best of friends! Who are they ? Where are they ? 

Your best friend is Amitabha. Amitabha vows to be your best friend forever. 

兩小無猜的青梅竹馬，已音訊渺茫；

Whatever you do, do it with single-minded focus, and do it from the heart — regard it as working for Amitabha Buddha, not just for people. In whatever I do, Amitabha works with me. 

Amitabha Buddha is able, through his great power at work within us, to accomplish everything—far beyond all that we ask or imagine. 

無論做甚麼，都要專心一意，且要從心裏做，像是為佛工作，不是為人工作。 我做的事，有佛與我同工。 

佛能以運行在我們當中的大能成就一切，遠超過我們所求所想的。

Those who have received grace should share compassion and forgiveness with one another, just as the Buddha shares compassion and forgiveness with us. They should embrace and accept one another, just as the Buddha embraces and accepts us.

In all things share a heart of: trust, kindness, mercy, forbearance, humility, gentleness, patience, and gratitude.

Be mindful in caring for one another. Do your utmost to be good to those who are in need of help.

In love and faith, in speech and conduct, and in purity in every respect, be an example to all.

Kind words are like a honeycomb, they bring sweetness to the heart and healing to the bones. Only loving-kindness can truly edify and uplift people.

Do not slander or contend. Always seek peace, and show great kindness, consideration, humility, and gentleness toward all.

蒙恩的人，彼此慈愍、饒恕，如佛慈愍、饒恕我們；彼此包容、接納，如佛包容、接納我們。

凡事要存相信、恩慈、憐愍、包容、謙虛、溫柔、忍耐、感謝的心。

無論對什麼人，要用心彼此關懷。要盡你的力量，向需要幫助的人行善。

無論在愛心、信心，言語、行為，和純潔各方面，都要作眾人的榜樣。

良言如同蜂房，使心覺甘甜，使骨得醫治。唯有愛心能造就人。

不要誹謗，不要爭競，總要和平，向眾人大顯恩慈體貼、謙卑柔和。

We should understand that we are incapable of truly practicing good. The resolution to do good may arise within oneself; but, whether it can actually be carried out does not lie within one’s control. Therefore, when trusting in and accepting Amitabha’s deliverance, the foremost point is to recognize that one is an imperfect ordinary being, powerless to practice genuine virtue. Even when one does good deeds, they are still defiled, conditioned, and mixed with impure motives. 

To do true good for others means to encourage them to trust in and accept Amitabha’s deliverance—this alone is the greatest virtue. 

應知自己不能行善，立志為善由得我，行出來由不得我。故我們信受彌陀救 度，第一要點，應知自己是罪惡凡夫，無力行善；雖做善事，也是污染、有漏、 雜毒之善。 

向眾人行善，就是勸他信受彌陀救度，才是最大的善。

With faith within, good actions will naturally appear. 

A person commits wrongdoing only because the life of the Amitabha is not within him — because Amitabha is not in his heart. 

Only when the inner life is transformed will outward conduct and character be transformed. 

Whatever life exists inside, such will be the way of life outside. 

One whose heart does not contain Amitabha will see no one else with his eyes. If there is no goodness in one’s heart, how can one carry out good deeds? 

First comes faith, then comes virtue. 

When we believe in Amitabha’s salvation, virtue naturally follows. 

When there is faith in Amitabha within, there will be love shown to others without. 

When one’s inner life is Amitabha’s, then outwardly one can live a life of compassion and loving-kindness. 

Where there is faith, there will be action. 

The measure of one’s faith in Amitabha is the measure of one’s love for others — they are directly proportional. 

內面有信心，外面就有行為。為非作歹，都因為沒有佛的生命在裏面（心中無 佛）。 

內在生命改變，外在生活品性才會改變。內面是怎麼樣的生命，外面就是怎 麼樣的生活。

一個心中沒有佛的人，他的眼中也沒有人。生命中沒有善，如何行出善事。 先有信心，後有德行，信佛救度，自有德行。 

內面有信佛的心，外面就會用愛心對人。 

內面是佛的生命，外面就能過著慈悲愛心的生活。 

有信心就有行為，信佛多少，愛人多少，完全成正比。

People often say, “I can do good;” but, they forget that they are also capable of doing evil.

The human heart is filled with greed, anger, and delusion; all of these are karma, all of these are offenses. 

In this world, there is no true goodness — only Amitabha’s Original Vow is true goodness. 

Our own goodness cannot save us; only Amitabha can save us. 

Whether we are saved or not does not depend on the greatness or smallness of our good deeds — it depends on whether or not we believe in Amitabha’s saving grace. 

Our salvation is rooted in Amitabha’s compassionate vows, and accepted through faith — it is absolutely not achieved by our own actions, for our actions are powerless. 

Yet after being saved, we will naturally perform good deeds — and where do these good deeds come from? 

They arise from the love of Amitabha within us. 

一般人說我會行善，但他忘記了，他同時還會行惡。 

人的內心充滿貪瞋癡，無不是業，無不是罪。 

世間無一真善，唯彌陀本願是真善。我們的善良不能救我們，彌陀才能救我 們。 

我們得救與否，不是看我們的善行大小，乃是看我們信不信彌陀救度。 我們得救是本乎彌陀悲願，也因著信，絕不是靠自己的行為，行為是無力的。 

但得救之後，我們自然會有善行，這個善行從哪裡來呢？從裡面彌陀的愛心 而來。

Amitabha saves me, causes me to be reborn, and grants me a new life. Not only do I receive life; but, I receive it in greater abundance. 

I am a newly created person; the old things have passed away, and everything has become new. 

Amitabha Buddha and I share the same life — Buddha and ordinary being as one. Therefore, I should be ever more humble and reverent. 

With my sins removed, I wish only to give thanks and repay Amitabha’s kindness. I wish only to cultivate good conduct, so that others, seeing the change in me, may come to trust in Amitābha’s compassionate grace. 

How could I instead boast of my sins, indulge in reckless behavior, or deliberately do wrong? 

彌陀救我，使我重生，獲得新生命。 

不但得到生命，而且得的更豐盛。 

是新造的人，舊事已過，一切都變成新的。 

佛與我同生，佛凡一體，故我更應謙敬。 

罪被消除，只想感恩、報恩，只想自己如何有好行為，使人因自己的改變而來 信受彌陀的慈恩。 

怎會反而誇罪，而放浪形骸，故意為非？
