Q and A about Practicing Amitabha-Recitation
Part Four - The Mindset and Practice in Daily Life
Question 85: Undoubtedly, donating one’s organs after death is an act of a Bodhisattva; but, as ordinary beings, we inevitably have attachments. Could this affect our rebirth in the Pure Land?
Answer to Q 85: It depends on one’s motivation and aspiration. If one’s capacity to endure is insufficient, and one’s aspiration is not firm, it can indeed have an adverse effect. Rebirth is of the utmost importance; so, we should safeguard this great matter and seek to ensure our rebirth. Once we have attained the Patience of Non-arising, we can then return to the Saha world. At that point, even acts such as Shakyamuni Buddha feeding his flesh to an eagle and a tiger would no longer be difficult—let alone anything else.
